Whenever this time of year rolls around and we’re coming closer to beginning a fresh 12 months I always find myself reflecting. When we approach a new year we start thinking about goals and what we want to achieve so today I wanted to revisit and go back to my goals that I set in 2015 and think about what I want to achieve in 2016.
I didn’t begin this year in the best place, physically or mentally. There are a lot of things that I don’t talk about on my blog or anywhere online as I don’t always feel that the internet is the appropriate place for them. During May, things started to pick up and I realised that 2015 was the year that I needed to work on myself to get into a better mindset so I could make big things happen and do them to the best of my ability. Even though the year didn’t start off well it’s really picked up and right now I feel good. Now it’s time to see what I want to achieve in 2016:
Let people in: This has been my biggest downfall this year, the walls that I put around myself are probably even higher now. It’s definitely something I want to work on in 2016 as I don’t want to be so cold to my loved ones.
Stay in shape: My mindset towards exercise has completely changed this year. I started running but didn’t keep it up. My aim for next year is to take up a gym membership and keep myself in shape.
Better my photography skills: I have been wanting to do this for a while now. I love my blog photos but I feel that there’s always room for improvement. Since getting my camera for my 21st birthday, I am passionate about taking photos and I am hoping to do a photography crash course next year.
Buying my first house: This is one of the most exciting things. Me and my boyfriend are hopefully going to get our first house next year and get on the property ladder. This means a room for my makeup, blog props and just generally more space.
Keep up with engagement: I just think it’s common courtesy to take the time to reply to someone who took the time to interact with your blog post. Next year I will definitely try to reply to every single comment left on my blog. I am also going to be engaging with people more on Instagram and Twitter.
I’m always trying to better my photography as well, I think it’s so satisfying when you do side by side comparisons of your photos and you can see how much you’ve improved.
I tend to have really high walls up as well and I hadn’t really thought about it but that’s something I’d like to change this year as well. Sometimes I joke that the walls I put up around me are so high it’s like the great wall of china.

So many great goals for 2016. My big goal for 2016 is to work on my friendships more. I’ve been so busy working full-time and going to school that I let relationships slide. I’m sending out more emails, making more plans and being more available for these relationships.

Good luck with your goals. You can do it! My goals are to write blog posts faster - they take me 6 hours. Way too long. And get healthier - both in terms of what I eat an exercising.

These are great goals for 2016! Like you, in 2014 I was in the slumps! I made a list of things I wanted to accomplish in 2015 and it really helped me get through the downpour. 2015 was my year of improvement and I’m making 2016 my year of accomplishments!
Best of luck!

I’m the same, for some reason I have been keeping everything to myself which isn’t healthy! It’s always best to share your problems which is something i’ll be working on for 2016 x

Photography is definitely one of my goals for the new year. I have all these books and online classes and I’ve been slacking.
Also, I’d like to NOT be on social media so much and read more books!
Best wishes in 2016 and I hope that you meet your goals!

It can be really hard to let people in, especially if you’ve had a rough year. I know that I have been a lot less open with newer friends too. But you can do it. Your loved one are the ones that deserve that special place in your heart. Keep at it.

Fab goals! Your photography is fab, and I really want to join the gym but I’m so scared haha! Buying your first house sounds terrifying but amazing at the same time!
Great goals! My hubby & I are hopefully buying a new house in 2016, too. Keeping up with engagement is an important one. That needs to be on my list, although, with getting married in 2015 it made me a little better about that but I need to keep up with it. Here’s to 2016!

I’m just the same as you, I’m terrible at letting people in but don’t be hard on yourself, it’s one of the most difficult things to do! Looks like you have a lovely 2016 in front of you though!!
