5 Beauty Brands I Wouldn't Mind Trying

I have been thinking about my makeup collection and although I do have a lot of makeup, I always go for the same brands. This year I would like to venture out of my comfort zone and try out new brands! I thought I'd put together a wish list of the ones I wouldn't mind getting my hands on...

Too Faced: This brand is well known for their gorgeous eye shadow palettes! Although its a little bit pricey their products are so pretty and are on the shelves drawing you in. I would love the chocolate bar collection but I also wouldn't mind having a look at their popular better than sex mascara.

ELF: This is also known as Eyes Lips Face, they brand themselves as the home of low cost, quality makeup. I have heard a lot of good things about ELF and would love to order some of their brushes as they start from around £1.95. Unfortunately, every time I go to make an order most of the things I want are out of stock! I suppose I can see this as the products being on high demand.

Zoeva Cosmetics: Around 6 months ago I brought the well known Zoeva Rose Gold Collection. I'm glad I took the plunge to spend the £50 because I haven't looked back. They don't have the biggest cosmetics range but their blush collection and their Luxe Cream Lipsticks look right up my street!

Anastasia Beverly Hills: This is one of those brands I am aiming to try within the next month, I think every beauty blogger has! They're an American company that has recently been made available in the UK. I have heard so many good reviews on the Contour Kit and the DipBrow. You can currently buy this from Cult Beauty.

NYX Cosmetics: Another affordable brand! I have been looking at purchasing from them for a while now but I don't have a stockist anywhere near me. As delivery costs £5, I would rather wait until I'm somewhere that stocks NYX so I can "try before I buy". I am a big fan of lipsticks and have been eyeing up the Aqua Luxe Collection.

Which brands are you hoping to try this year?

Nutella Rice Krispie Treats

So as me and my boyfriend have a slight obsession with Nutella; I thought I would take the opportunity seeing as it was Valentines day and make a Nutella crunchy mess! I'm by far the baking type but I thought this recipe was really really simple and tastes extremely yummy too.

I will be honest, I didn't get the right chocolate to melt on top but that mistake has been made and I can learn from it. Here is the recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 6 cups Rice Krispy Cereal
  • 1 (10.5 oz) bag mini marshmallows
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 heaping cup Nutella
- TOPPING -
  • 1/2 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 1 cup Nutella
  • 1 Tbsp. butter

Instructions

  1. Measure out Rice Krispies cereal into a large bowl and set aside.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and marshmallows together until smooth.
  3. Once marshmallows and butter have melted together add Nutella and stir until well combined.
  4. Pour marshmallow mixture over the cereal. Stir to coat evenly. Press into a greased pan.
  5. To make topping, heat Nutella, chocolate chips and butter in a medium sauce pan over medium / low heat until smooth. Spread over the top of Rice Krispy Treats.
  6. Stick in the fridge and let it set up. Once they have set, cut into them and eat up!
Do you love Nutella as much as I do? Will you be making these?

Ways To Save Money

It's taken me years to be able to save any money. I've learnt having some money saved in the bank is VERY useful when it's an emergency. Here's a few things I've learnt to do:
  • Set yourself budgets. Make sure you have enough to live off but also abit to save when all of your standing orders and direct debits have come out.
  • Always look for promotional codes before you buy something, especially online! There are loads for ASOS, Look Fantastic and Feel Unique.
  • Learn when to say "no". I found this quite hard but looking back, I used to spend a ridiculous amount of money on food. Those £3's here and there always add up!
  • Make eating out a treat - not a lifestyle.
  • Set up a savings account and have a standing order so you're always saving money each month but also one you can withdraw from easy.
  • Have loyalty cards, not store cards. Loyalty cards are always good when you get something out of it. Store cards on the other hand, are not.
  • If you're looking for new clothes, try getting some money for your old ones and sell them on Ebay or Depop.
  • Finally, write down everything you spend. Then the following month you might not spend as much
Do you have any money saving tips?

5 things I Need To Do More Of

Dressing Table - Dunelm Mill

 1. Moisturising | This was one of my New Year's resolutions for this year and so far I think I have achieved it. I used to be really bad at not just moisturising my face but my skin too. The Nivea In Shower Body Moisturiser has helped a great deal - it's basically killing 2 birds with 1 stone.
I use a LUSH moisturiser morning and night for my face/neck. It's always a good feeling being moisturised!

2. Cleaning my makeup brushes | I think most girls are guilty of not cleaning their makeup brushes as much as they should. When they're clean and I see all of the foundation coming off it, I love it. For some reason I just don't have any motivation to do it! At the moment I probably clean them once a month but I believe they should be cleaned more frequent than that. The time they take to dry (24 hours) is enough to put anyone off!

3. Topping up my makeup | In my handbag I normally carry round about 3 lipsticks, a mirror, a lip gloss and a powder foundation. I very rarely take these out of my bag and actually use them, then I wonder why I look so awful when I get home. I feel if I spend 2-3 minutes putting red lipstick on in the morning, I won't want to spend another 2-3 minutes putting it on again!

4. Having a no makeup day | I don't do this anywhere near as much as I should. I feel sorry for my skin for caking it in makeup everyday. I need to try and have no makeup days more often as 1. I can save makeup and 2. my skin might be abit clearer! I always wonder where all my spots come from...

5. Priming my skin | Being completely honest, this is something I don't ever do. I once got a sample of the Smashbox Photo Primer and loved the way my skin felt when I applied it. Unfortunately, that sample ran out very quickly and I have never re purchased it - I don't know why! I think its because I haven't had a spare £28.

One day I'm sure I'll get round to doing all of these things.
I'm not lazy I promise!

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara - Elle Magazine

So when I found out that Benefit were launching their new mascara I was so excited. Having used "They're real!" for a couple of years I knew I wanted to try this one out. I found out online that Elle were offering a free sample of it so I couldn't resist. Here's my thoughts -

Firstly, I absolutely LOVE the packaging. The free sample doesn't do it justice, though. I like how girly it is with the black and the pink writing. I feel like benefit have always been spot on with their packaging!

Secondly, the brush isn't like anything I've ever tried before. It's a "hook and roll" style and I feel like it does exactly what it says and separates each lash. It 100% lifts your lashes and curls them perfectly! I even got a compliment on them. The only issue is, it takes a little longer to take off and is a little more stubborn than your normal drugstore mascaras but I think its worth it!

I cannot wait for this mascara to be hitting the shops as I will be definitely going to my nearest Benefit counter to get one! If you would like to purchase the sample, its in the March Elle magazine now and will cost you £4. I would recommend and I will be looking forward to the release date which is the 26th of February! Has anyone else tried this new mascara?
