I strongly believe that this is the answer to every beauty obsessives storage problems. The IKEA Alex Drawers is in pretty much every single beauty bloggers bedroom for their makeup storage. With 5 smaller draws and 4 deeper draws at the bottom, you have plenty of space to keep your makeup. I currently have two sets of these drawers but don’t worry, they aren’t all full, just yet.
Starting at the top;
In the top of the two drawers I store my lipsticks, lip glosses and lip balms. I seem to keep my MAC and Charlotte Tilbury in one acrylic storage unit because they’re always the ones I reach for the most. The rest is stored in brand order. I seem to go through these draws a lot and throw away a lot of lipsticks, they do say that you should only keep a lipstick for a maximum of two years - oops!
Next drawers down;
Underneath my lipsticks I keep my foundation, concealers, blushes, bronzer and contour products. My blushers are stored neatly in this Muji Acrylic Holder, you can pick these up for around £2-£3. As you can see, I also have my Boi-ing Benefit Concealer to hand because I have been loving that lately to cover my dark circles! For some reason I have 5 pots of Mac Studio Fix Fluid. This used to be my favourite foundation, ever. I’m currently reaching for the L’Oreal Infalible Matte Foundation which is a fraction of the price.
Carrying on;
As we go down the drawers, I have a draw full of eyeshadow palettes (which I couldn’t take a decent photo of as they’re so compact). I have been absolutely loving the Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette, the BeautyPie 10 Natural Shades Palette and the Rodial Eyeshadow Palette*. I seem to keep a stash of mascaras as well, which is probably really bad for me. I seem to reach for the Roller Lash Mascara* the most. I have my spare Beauty Blender and the Beauty Blender Solid Cleaner which is amazing for cleaning not just Beauty Blenders but also Real Technique Sponges etc.
In the bigger drawers at the bottom I usually keep my skincare but I’m going to leave that for another post. I also have a draw dedicated to self tanning which I also can’t wait to show you.
Does anyone else seem to keep their products in their packaging? How do you store your makeup?
