I don’t need an excuse to do a highlighter haul but it’s smer and what better time than to get that luminous effect. Highlighting is the favourite part of my makeup routine and I have tried and tested so many different formula’s, brands and application techniques, leading me to find my top picks.
Highlighter Yellow - Rodial*; Being completely honest, this isn’t something I thought I’d like but this is so quick and easy to use, it’s hard not to love. A little brushed over cheekbones and tapped on the brow bone and on the cupids bow is the easiest way to get a really polished look to your makeup. I can’t recommend it enough!
TheBalm Mary-Lou Manizer; As you all are aware, this is my everyday product for effortless, smooth skin. I can’t recommend this enough, every time anyone asks what highlighter I am wearing, it’s always Mary-Lou. Plus, it’s super affordable and lasts forever. Unreal!
Topshop Glow Pot in Gleam; This cream highlighter is so perfect for making your cheekbones pop. I use this underneath my Becca Cosmetics Champagne Pop mostly for a night out as its such a glam look. It’s kind of a base to your normal highlighter but can also be used alone.
Becca Cosmetics in Champagne Pop; My favourite highlighter to date. I don’t use this that often because its quite pricey and I don’t want to hit pan. This is definitely the best highlighter I have used, ever and if you haven’t got it, you need it in your life now. So pigmented, it’s a very soft gold shade but with peachy undertone.
Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow; Like the Becca highlighter, this has a golden base to it and helps reflect the light just where you need it. It’s not as pigmented as I would like but its good for that subtle highlight at an event.
Sleek Makeup Highlighting Palette; This palette contains three powder highlighters and one cream. Even looking at the pans and seeing that gorgeous marbled effect in the pink and orange shades seriously floored me. I do however want to add that all four highlighters are beautifully formulated: well pigmented, shimmery yet no traces of chunky glitter, easy to apply and blend out, all the while wearing well (around 8 hours per application). I rather like that the highlighters also double up as eyeshadows should you wish and in the case of the cream shade, a primer of sorts too.
