MY INVISALIGN JOURNEY #1

So this is going to be a new thing on my blog. I’m going to be talking about my Invisalign journey. I decided to go with Night Dental but I’ll tell you more about that later…

Teeth straightening is something that I’ve wanted for as long as I can remember but my teeth were never ‘bad enough’ to get them done on the NHS. About a year ago, I enquired about braces to my local dentist which involved a 10 minute consultation. The reason I didn’t go ahead with it was because it was pretty darn expensive, I needed teeth removing and I wasn’t 100% sure I wanted to go down the train track look.

I had never really researched in depth about Invisalign because I knew the costs involved and lets be real, something that looks almost invisible on your teeth is bound to be more expensive than something that you can clearly see.

I actually went through The Blogger Programme to find Night Dental. Night Dental is a walk in emergency dentist in Birmingham that opens from 6pm until midnight. To me, this was perfect because I could pop to Birmingham after work and not worry about having to take time off. It’s the only kind in the UK with plans to open in Manchester and London.

I booked in for a free consultation with Sofina. The dentist itself was super clean and brand new since it’s only been open about a month. I had quite a long chat (1 and a half hours!) with Sofina about my teeth, what I want to get out of Invisalign, costs and whether it was possible. Thankfully, I am able to have Invisalign! I had the choice to have the full treatment or have Invisalign Lite which means having either the top or bottom straightened but only having 14 aligners to get your teeth straight. With the full treatment, it’s unlimited. I had to go back to have my impressions done and for them to be sent off to Invisalign to build the aligners. Once they were back, I went for the fit.

It’s currently day 2 wearing the first set of aligners which ill have to change every 2 weeks. I still have a slight lisp and am still getting used to taking them out for eating and drinking anything apart from water. I shall keep you updated but I have inserted a before and after of my clin check!
